Here's a nice rarity for you! It's Julius Benedict's "Carnevale di Venezia" parts one and two, recorded by Luisa Tetrazzini on TWO single-sided Dog Monarch HMV 78 rpm discs.They are being sold together, at the same time, simultaneously as a JOB LOT, both of them, at once, in the same parcel for the single price.
Their numbers are 053225 and 053226, and the orchestra is conducted by one of Tetrazzini's regular collaborators, Percy Pitt (crazy name, crazy guy).
The selections were recorded in London on May 25th 1909, (thank you Robert Johannesson) and appeared for a short while on G&T type "Pre Dog Monarchs". These delightful pink label pressings are very very slightly later and are very desirable. They are as clean as an undertaker's driving licence and they shine like Shirley Bassey's pyjamas. They play magnificently, without any annoying click or clonk. We'd rate them, conservatively, as a VERY STRONG VG++ or better, using "Record Collector" magazine's yardstick.
