Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. THE GANTS from Mississippi, managed three albums in the mid '60s before the Vietnam War tore the band apart. One of the very best and respected garage bands from the south, The Gants were quickly signed to major label "Liberty" from 1965 through 1967 ...
GREGG ALLMAN GUESTS ON ORGAN

TOP COPY !!!

Original 1965 first pressing of the very first of three albums these garage rockin' cats issued in the sixties...all three albums are recommended to garage & 60's rock collectors as the band was plenty fiery no more better through than their fuzz-punk "Gloria" which blows Shadows Of Knight out of the water and on level with Van Morrison & Them's superior
........................................................................................................

One of the few outfits of its kind to emerge from the Deep South, the GANTS were originally known as The Kingsmen (but not to be confused with likewise-named Kingsmen who had the hit "Louie, Louie") ...Then in 1965 bombs fell on Vietnam, and garage bands sprouted all over America. In Greenwood, Mississippi the GANTS were born. While the black majority population of the Mississippi Delta town was marching on the courthouse for voting rights, a good portion of the white youth were hunched over guitars puzzling out the Delta blues-derived licks on records by The Yardbirds, The Animals and The Rolling Stones.

Then, in the autumn of 1965, something truly incredible happened. One of the hometown bands broke through. The Gants' recording of Bo Diddley's song "Roadrunner" started creeping up the charts. It was two minutes and twenty seconds of garage-land glory. It opens with thrashing electric guitars modulating up a scale, building the tension rung by rung, and then ignites with primitive fuzztone power chords over a classic boogie bass line. And it had a gimmicky hook on the chorus when lead singer Sid Herring imitated the cartoon Roadrunner's classic getaway line, "Beep-beep, schwoooo." "Roadrunner," the single, and The Gants' first album with the same name, were recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and licensed for national release by Liberty Records. That Gants' first album, titled Roadrunner, supposedly features Duane Allman playing organ on "House of the Rising Sun" (it is most likely they meant his brother, Greg Allman, however).

The album, Roadrunner, is a solid slice of 1965 garage glory, featuring a slew of cool tunes from the punked-out fuzz/reverbed GLORIA to the moody atmosphere in House Of The Rising Sun, The high school band from Mississippi were as good as any of the teen-scene hopefuls in the mid sixties....
