RARE and CLEAN ....Original 1971 first pressing 2xLP vinyl in gatefold cover...heavy guitar psych that is sure to turn more than a few heads around ...

The Live Experience Band was a turn of the 70's heavy guitar psych trio that were somewhere in the middle of early Guru Guru meets The Human Instinct and The Jimi Hendrix Experience on a jamming stoned night....really heavy and extremely noisy acid rock with tons of mind-blowing usage of heavy fuzz, wah-wah, and feedback guitar ... These cats made at least FIVE rare, sought and collected albums...although quite similar in structure, none better than this their epic double second album from 1971 aptly named "Portrait Of Jimi Hendrix" ....

The LIVE EXPERIENCE BAND were anonymous West Germans who could imitate The Jimi Hendrix Experience like nobody else. The ease with which the guitarist is able to manipulate the guitar and all the various effects in exactly the same way Jimi does is really impressive. It's all there, the thick fuzz, the nimble and utterly flawless utilisation of the wah-pedal, the octavia pedal, the extra-noisy feedback, and all the other effects such as echo-plex, flanger, etc. Even the quality is perfect for the basement production label. And to add to an already perfect album, the lyrics interpreted through German ears are a source of much unintended entertainment:
"Well I stand up next to a mountain / and I shop it down to the head of my friend"

Side A is composed of Hendrix covers, while side B are all original jams, although done in Hendrix style. It starts with Voodoo Chile ("Slight Return" version) which is usually butchered by everybody who covers it despite their best attempts. I've noticed it's almost always because the guitarists aren't able to produce a loud and quickly changeable tone to make those transitions between rhythm and lead sound convincing without overdubs. And this guy nails it with audible effortlessness.
Next up is "Hey Joe". Again, the guitar is spot on, playing the fuzz-less first part of the song with the same virtuosity as Jimi, and finally getting to release that fuzz at the end. And the lyrics are even more laughable than the first track:
"Yes I wanna shot your woman down / you know I gotta mess around with another man"
So face-palmingly good.
Then "First Trial Of Star Spangled Banner" and before the song even starts, they start out with a great original jam for a couple minutes that they finish off with a heavily octavia'd Voodoo Chile riff. Throughout the second side there is no let up, frenzied heavy guitar psych acid jams going from "Red House" to "Purple Haze" and even another (cool) version of "Hey Joe" ... The 3rd and 4th sides are all originals in the same vein as the 1st & 2nd sides ... "Cross Electric Town/Before Dead" is based on the "Who Knows" riff, and it's the best track of the album. It lasts for about half the side; the rest is a seemingly neverending with minute after minute of winding down feedback and false-climaxes (and that's not a criticism). All the other 'originals' are distortion guitar psyched-out heaviness...Anyway, it's just as good as everything else this band has done, but this time no covers and no vocals. Just song after song of really, really good heavy fuzz-wah jamming in the style of Jimi Hendrix. But if you prefer the more melodious side of Hendrix, you will not like this. This will appeal only to those that love really noisy acid jams...

CONDITION: The Cover: The fragile gatefold cover is clean and would get a M- rating but for 2 letters in pen ...otherwise sharp and stiff with no bends, no split seams ...call it VG++ overall for the two letters...and M- otherwise :)

The Vinyl: all four sides are clean and clear M- ...right off you notice "clean" ...the album is near 40 years old and a German "underground" item that is usually found well worn ...here a special copy ...

Point of interest: (we) sold a mint copy for $400 in the mid 90's...more recently spotted at a collector shop for $200 in "VG" ...so it's an interesting/valuable collectible for the style, and a title we haven't had for years...
