( André Lewis ) MANDRE - 4; United States 1980, Future Groove / Super Groove SG144/SG145, clear vinyl pressing LP with title insert, printed poly sleeve, promotional copy with DJ timing strip on cover.
Rare original pressing of 'Mandre 4' on André Lewis' own and private Future Groove/Super Groove Label. Unplayed clear vinyl in perfect near mint condition, dark red labels are clean. The fragile poly cover is like new, no splits, no tears, no broken areas, silver title print is fresh and strong. Double-sided insert in perfect near mint condition.
Also one of the very first pressings used for advance promotional purposes. This particular copy comes from the former vinyl archives of KROQ, a commercial modern rock radio station in Pasadena/Los Angeles.
"After three albums for Motown, Mandre released his fourth record in the Bay Area on his privately run Future Groove label. The story goes that just after the album was shipped, the remaining stock was accidentally destroyed in the warehouse. Not many copies made it to local stores, thus making it a very rare 80s fusion/funk albums. Many fans don't even know that this album exists and near mint copies sold for hundreds of dollars in the past .This album contains some of his finest work: like the playful 'Isle De Joie' and the captivating 'Magic Woman'."
Not the common Rush Hour re-issue from 2010 but the scarce and hard to find original pressing in near mint condition.
