MANDY MORTON BAND – Valley Of Light ORIG Banshee LP / BAN 1013 (UK, Stereo, 1983)
Happy to present this rare offering from Ms. Morton and friends in its original UK press and signed by the lady herself!
The single format, glossy, non-laminated sleeve is in super shape for its 28 years. One tiny soft crease each to front and rear (hardly visible – I look hard!), slight wear to bottom front right corner (all other corners are near perfect), slight ring impression to the rear top, some light scrapes to the rear (only visible if held up to the light) and that’s about it. There’s NO splits, tears, edge feathering, no real edge rubs. Spine is well defined with text fully legible. Overall just shows slight signs of handling and storage but grades a true EX (Excellent) for such a fragile non-laminate. It has been signed by Mandy on the rear: ‘Bryan and Sarah, lots of love, Mandy Morton’.
The original orange Banshee labels are in fine shape with no writing, stickers or residue. Only a couple of spindle trails to each side too. On Side 1 be aware that there is a small manufacturing slip but this only affects the text of the 1st song title. Doesn’t really detract.
The light to medium weight vinyl, I think has been seldom played – maybe as little as twice. Visually there’s not much to fault – a small nick and one hairline to one side, no scratches. There is some light scuffing (very light) – looks to me like the type of surface trails picked up during manufacture (quite a common affliction on 80s pressings) – doesn’t interfere with the audio. Grades EX (Excellent) visually. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and also generally plays excellent. There is some light static, noticeable in the mega quiet sections and the occasional light tick but no repeated clicks, loud pops, distortion or loss of definition. Comes across loud and clear and is an enjoyable listen.
