Description
This is a 12 inch LP ACETATE from Mrac Bolans late 70 music show from Granada TV. I do not know if this is an Acetate of an actual Bolan or T Rex LP . You would need to consult a Bolan expert about that , and that certainly isnt me .
So all I can do is describe this item accurately .
Ive test played it and it plays entirely without jumping . Track one is very crackly but after that the acetate is pretty clear , id say 7 out of 10 for clarity although the sound does fade on a couple of other tracks but its not bad if you raise the volume on the quieter songs and there is only a couple of them .

Also inbetween many of the songs you get Marcs classic banter introducing guests etc and the classic line "dont forget to tune in next week , same Marc Time same Marc Channel".

You all know acetates are the rarest there is in terms of collecting records and if the stuff on here differs to material released by the record companies then its rarer still .
It has hairlines on both sides , it still retains a very strong acetate smell , cold to touch like marble . Thats due to the acetate laquer .Ive tacken pictures of the spindle hole hoping to show the metal which is inside the cellulose lacquer .
Due to the metal inside this LP is six times the weight of a normal LP .
They only ever make 5 acetates of each LP due the the massive costs incured making one of these. So how many of these are there out there ?
Once used by the artist to hear how the band sound (and BOLAN will have had a listen to this) acetates are either pressed into LPS or thrown in the bin , so any that survive are collectors treasure !
May well be a totally unique item , so collectors gold for the true Bolan and T rex fan .

A Bolan fan has emailed me saying its his opinion that this is an acetate from around the time the MARC ON WAX LP.
He has also informed me that there is no interview dialog on the Marc on Wax LP also this acetate has more material on it than appears on the above LP .
If anyone has any other info on this item I would really appreciate the info .
I dont have the LP to compare the two however with more material certainly with spoken dialog on this acetate I think its a very safe bet that this acetate is different to that Marc On Wax LP . This means its even rarer this could well be material No BOLAN fan has ever heard before or at least different live versions !
TREASURE for the true collector , a one off unique item !
Records seldom come rarer than this !
Bolan has a serious following of hardcore fans ,when will you ever get another chance to own material from Marc on such a rare desirable format that the world quite possibly has never heard ?
