Description
In 1962, a British group called The Tornados had a world wide instrumental hit with TELSTAR, written by Joe Meek in response to the US launch of the first communications satellite. More than a year before the Beatles, this was the first number one record on the US charts by a British group (whose name was Americanized as the "Tornadoes").
A few months later, country singer Margie Singleton recorded MAGIC STAR, an unusual cover of TELSTAR with lyrics also written by Meek. Unfortunately, this recording received very little airplay in the US or anywhere else, and the record was a commercial failure and largely forgotten.
This very hard-to-find PROMO record of MAGIC STAR is in EXCELLENT condition with no visual flaws, and it plays fine.
