From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional barely played example of the beautiful folk album by MARIANNE FAITHFULL titled “COME MY WAY”, Catalogue Number LK 4688. This is an ORIGINAL 1965 UK MONO 1st PRESSING on the GROOVED UNBOXED DECCA RECORD LABEL, with a superb 1st issue Robert Stace sleeve.
The front-laminated single sleeve, printed in England by Robert Stace, is in EX condition with barely any wear and only a few very minor creases. The front and back covers are unmarked. The back cover is has only minimal age discoloration. The spine is solid with perfect text. Overall this is a truly excellent sleeve which should please most collectors.
The top quality Decca record retains a deep mirror-like shine and sits flat and true on the turntable. It is a nice solid pressing with a tapered rim edge.
The Matrix Numbers are:
SIDE 1 – ARL – 6747 – 1A
SIDE 2 – ARL – 6748 – 2A
Both sides are visually in EX+/MINT- condition. The grooved red Decca labels are like new with only 2 or 3 short spindle traces on Side 1 and maybe half a dozen on Side 2. There is no wear to the spindle hole. This album has been in my collection for many years and I can confirm that it has only received a few careful plays on high end equipment with a light tracking weight.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
This is a top quality Decca pressing which plays with exceptional vibrancy and clarity. The record plays perfectly. There is no discernable deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence. This is particularly important for this album as there are many quiet sensitive passages which are easily spoiled by excessive surface sound. I think that it will be almost impossible to find another copy of this wonderful album which plays to such a high standard.
The Decca poly-lined inner sleeve has no tears or splits – just a few creases and some age discoloration.
Overall this is a beautiful copy of a very rare album which will grace any record collection.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
PACKAGING
Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
