SILVER DOG / AURORA ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by MASSIMO GUANTINI e la sua ORCHESTRA. Original Italian pressing on the RICORDI label (SRL 10744), published by Edizioni PEGASO, from 1975. Next level and absolutely killer psychedelic funk by this mysterious orchestra. Still, a practically unknown item in Italy. Features the outstanding SILVER DOG theme that many of you will have never heard before ;) A punishing mix of wah wah fuzz distortions / funky congas / treated fender rhodes solos and B-boy drum breaks. Hard hitting rhythms, like a top Italian Library theme. Great for DJs. Musically, nothing we know sounds similar and the e-piano playing totally destroys the funkiest Romano Mussolini / Sante Palumbo et al. Fresh sounding groove with breaks and beats to die for. The beautiful melancholy of the AURORA side is completely different. A classical lounge theme led by fragile piano but with some compressed hip hop-esque drums a la Sharon Mhata Chatam's Fantasy and atmospheric synthesizer motifs. Mood music with a giallo thriller sound of the period. The same artist / composer also recorded the Ritmi e Tastiere Italian Library with Sandro Brugnolini and Diapositive Library on Gemelli label. Very rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in strong VG++ condition with some hairlines and one tiny nick / super-mini scratch to intro of 'Silver Dog' side that causes a couple of pops (as you can hear on our soundclip). A couple of soft ticks to outro and a few light surface noises to the more gentle 'Aurora' side. The soft card picture sleeve is in VG++ condition overall with light general wear (mostly to front top left corner). Some light ring creasing and edge wear from storage. Very rare 45!!!
