Note ! What is a Promo? Record company`s that wanted to promote their music in the Club, would release a 12" Promo to working DJ`s,before releasing an album. In many cases (Not All) They were remixed longer versions of a certain cut on an album. Sometimes they were vocal on one side and instrumental on the other side so the DJ could blend his own version of that cut.Sometimes they would also put the album version on the Single as well as release full albums to the DJ`s to Promote. The record company would then either gold stamp the jacket(back or front)or put it on the label for promotion only!( not for sale). Also record co. would authorize DJ services such as Ultimix to do a remix for DJ`s as well.
