The second album of this legendary Canterbury band is a true psyhedelic/progressive classic album!!

Matching Mole's Little Red Record (1972) is the second album of the English Canterbury Scene band Matching Mole. The band was formed in 1971 by Robert Wyatt after he left Soft Machine. Compared to their first album, Little Red Record was more of a team effort, with Wyatt taking a less involved role. It was produced by Robert Fripp of King Crimson, and features Brian Eno as a guest musician.

The album title refers to Chairman Mao's Little Red Book. This reference is also carried over to the faux-Chinese style of the album cover, which is reminiscent of posters created during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Vinyl: EX to EX+. An astonishing vinyl that has barely been played. No visual hairlines. Just the wispiest lightest of retraction lines but these are miniscule and every record that has been taken in and out has this. The audio is simply stunning. A legendary album that has gone under the radar, up there with the classic Caravan and Soft Machine albums. This is a fantastic upgrade.

Sleeve: EX. A lovely sleeve with just one little nick near the opening. A great example that is an upgrade to most collectors. this also has the red inner sleeve.

I have played this in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! There are not any jumps, pops or skips. Some light static at the beginning of each side for a few seconds only. Very remarkable for this 1972 vinyl!!! The heavy vinyl with high groovewalls provide a fantastic audio experience with channelling not equalled by the later re-issues. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!! A beautiful CLASSIC with supreme songcraft and this is when it all came wonderfully together, a joy to listen to!!!!

Vinyl: EX to EX+.  A sublime copy with only a couple of light retraction type mini hairlines. It is indeed megarare now in this kind of condition. A fantastic album that still sounds relevant now but throws you back to a magical time that once was at the same time.  Nothing beats this, the original first press with marvellous sound separation. This is the original first press on the "Eye" label. The vinyl is extremely heavy and solid. These earliest Island presses are the vinyl equivalent of a Rolls Royce oozing quality!! This has not been played much at all as is also evident from the fact that there are no spindle traces to be seen. Needless to say NO jumps, clicks or ticks. This will be a fantastic upgrade for most long time collectors!!

Sleeve:VG+.   Matt sleeve without any damage but some wear.  Light ringwear and spinal wear as well. Light corner creases. One small name on the back but hardly visible. Still a nice enough sleeve and a very rare album indeed!!  No splits,  no marks .

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
