Description

Item:

This auction is for Cat Stevens' Triple Platinum album Tea for the Tillerman Issued by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs as an Ultra High Quality Record.  MFQR-1035.  Limited Edition No. 2304.  Pressed by the Victor Company of Japan (JVC) during January 1982.  Hand Numbered, Hand signed Certificate of Authenticity included.

Tea for the Tillerman is Cat Stevens' second album, released during 1970, and includes many of Stevens' most well-known songs.

This is from Mobile Fidelity's Ultra High Quality Record line, rather than their Original Master Recording line.  Limited to 5000 copies, each individually numbered. UHQR records were pressed on heavy-weight (200 gram) "virgin" vinyl and pressed on the master stamper at the JVC company in Japan. Only eight albums were considered high enough quality to be released as an Ultra High Quality Record, and many audiophiles consider Tea for the Tillerman to be the most natural sounding one of all, representing the epitome of "the absolute sound".

The album charted into the top 10 in the United States.  Rolling Stone Magazine included this album in its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die and in the list of "The Definitive 200 Albums of All Time", released by The National Association of Recording Merchandisers and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This Ultra High Quality Record is a MUST for every Cat Stevens fan, every lover of vinyl, and every serious audiophile who wants to hear just how startlingly REAL their system can sound.

Condition:

I am the original owner, and I am a recovering audiophile. I have always taken fastidious care of my records.  This Ultra High Quality Record box set is from my personal collection. This disk has been played seldomly, only when I wanted to really show off mys system, always using a properly-adjusted tonearm and cartridge, and only after dry cleaning carefully with a carbon-fiber brush. Please bid with confidence, knowing that you are going to own a truly rare item in exceptionally good condition, sounding just as good as the sealed copies you've seen going for $1,000.00 or more, but at a much lower price. NO RESERVE.

Vinyl: Mint/NM/M-  Will sound absolutely unplayed.
Cover:   Glossy Cover. Excellent/+ Very minor corner wear. Basically very shiny and pristine looking.
Outer Box:  Excellent- Very slight wear on two corners, but only if you look close.
Inner Sleeve:  Mint Original Inner Sleeve; Heavy Duty Static-free plastic/paper inner sleeves.
Insert: Certificate of Authenticity included.  Hand signed by the President of Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Hand numbered.
