Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Production#1398, dated between October 24th-November 18th, 1946..later became known as 1947 SONG OF LOVE, starring Katharine HEPBURN, Paul HENREID and Robert WALKER.
Offered is an impressive lot of 9 E+ condition 12" 78rpm MGM Studio discs,showcasing Classical Music with the spotlight on The Concert Piano
SONG OF LOVE appears to have been MGM's answer to the Run-a-way HIT from 1945 *A SONG TO REMEMBER*, which featured the music and life of CHOPIN.
In fact, it is ...just that with The Central Story of The Movie around the LIFE of CLARA WIECK SCHUMANN[Katharine Hepburn], Composer,Robert SCHUMANN[Paul Henreid] and Composer Johannes BRAHMS[Robert Walker]
The Concertos and music of FRANZ LISZT and ROBERT SCHUMANN are featured as well as as Brahms's First Symphony.
The Concert Pianist featured is Terrific .*Could the Mystery Pianist have been the established Studio Piano Celebrity JOSE ITURBI or ARTHUR RUBENSTEIN...or The Young William KAPELL or Leonard PENNARIO or Reknown OLGA STEEB....
*Note that on one of the Schumann concert pieces, the pianist appears to be in a Scene where is practicing,but forgetting passages....but going back over them again and again... suggesting a SCENE of conflict--flashback etc.
Each disc has etched annotations in the run-off grooves, as well as Scene # for which the music relates to.
...A Rare LOT .... *There are Nine discs in total,recorded both sides.
