Mega rare USA 7" single vinyl record by MHG titled "Muhammad Ali" b/w "My Friends".
The A Side is a tribute to Muhammad Ali. This is probably the rarest Muhammad Ali tribute record.
Both sides written by Harry Gardner = MHG.
Harry worked with my father back in the mid '60's to the early '70's. The song "My Friends" mentions my father and his other friends. Harry was the first "hippie" that I ever met!
Released in 1967 or 1968, it was recorded at Middle Georgia Studios in Monticello Georgia - they had a package deal where for a flat price you got some recording time with the "house band" plus a tiny amount of records pressed. Probably never sold in stores, a true "private pressing"! The house band at Middle GA. Studios were a local garage psych band called The Fugitives.
Both are novelty type songs, probably with The Fugitives backing band - it sounds like a guitar-bass-drums band, psychedelic garage style - but not heavy sounding, more pop sounding, kinda garage psych-lite...almost jazzy guitar. Harry's vocals are spoken and sung with a typical southern drawl. He was from middle GA - it's a "vanity" recording - he had money, wrote some "lyrics", went to the studio & they probably did less than an hour of recording to get the 2 songs.
Very good++ condition record has couple of tiny, light scuffs, plays near mint with only very minor surface noise (common to 1960's singles) and has full fidelity. The labels are perfect.
