... forever sought after 1967 first pressing 3D gatefold cover in *STEREO*

Includes the psychedelic custom designed inner sleeve

Satanic Majesties Request is the Stones most psychedelic album, loaded with stoned effects (wrabled vocals treatments) and trippy mixes within the great melodics, delivered only as the STONES could in their answer to the Beatles Sgt Peppers Lp...

Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album -- and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era -- split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many confess of a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, trippy sound effects and full arrangements. Never before or since did the Stones take so many chances in the studio. The material is very strong, particularly the glorious "She's a Rainbow," with its beautiful harmonies, piano, and strings; the riff-driven "Citadel"; the hazy, dream-like "In Another Land," Bill Wyman's debut writing (and singing) credit on a Stones release; and the majestically dark and doomy cosmic rocker "2000 Light Years From Home," with some of the creepiest synthesizer effects (devised by Brian Jones) ever to grace a rock record. The psychedelic jam "Sing This All Together (See What Happens)." is an infectious sing-along with a host of friends (ala The Beatles and others)... It's a much better record than some people give it credit for being, though, with a strong current of creeping uneasiness that undercuts the gaudy psychedelic flourishes. In 1968, the Stones would go back to the basics, and never wander down these paths again, making this all the more of a fascinating anomaly in the group's discography.

CONDITION:

The cover : thick gatefold cover is rated: near M- strong collection copy but has circle delete drill at top left corner ... custom designed 3-D center piece has very little glue marks and very little visible use! Very hard to find without heavy abrasions to the fragile 3-D centerpiece. Looks strong all over both sides, collectible ... there is a circle delete at top left. There are No seam splits, no writing, still with fresh colors from December of '67

The vinyl ...is extremely clean all over, rated: M- both sides retain shiny clear original luster, the deep groove pressing plays clean = enjoyable. Both London labels are spotlessly clean.
