PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Annette Peacock, the avant garde American composer, and Moog-synth pioneer, brought this seismically influential session out in 1972 – featuring developed synth-warped banshee vocals, morphed complex ballads, earthy psoul grooving and freaky electronics - all combined were to touch many genres of artists in that decade, including David Bowie and his "Spiders From Mars" guitarist Mick Ronson. Early on, Peacock's spacey, harmonically drifting pieces were regularly interpreted by her second husband, the famous jazzman Paul Bley – but she's since been covered by everyone from this guy to that girl in the past twenty years.
AS for all the familiarity of computer-assisted vocals in the current days, nothing prepares you for the howl of her searingly high notes spiraling up out of spooky organ chords and psoul-spicy riffs on the title track, or against the rolling blues groove of "Pony," or the dark and prowling one of "Blood." Take note Elvis's "Love Me Tender" being her only cover, when she makes it her own adding a sensual touch with a blend of soft, lyrical intimacy and fierce exhortation. The underpinnings are as 1970s soul/blues-rooted as any classic-pop listener could wish, but the uncompromising, sound-manipulating focus still sounds contemporary. "I’m The One" is filled with strength and power, as well as a tender, sensual, and seductive side, born of a life surrounded with music and culture. Composing by age four, Peacock’s mother was a professional violinist. By the early 1960s, Annette had also collaborated with first husband, jazz bassist Gary Peacock and toured with legendary jazzman Albert Ayler. Studying under Zen macrobiotics educator Michio Kushi and a confidant to Timothy Leary at the Millbrook psychedelic center, Peacock filled herself with acid-awareness and plunged into "I’m The One," with full freaked-out creativity, then attracting fans and even rock musicians like guitarists Mick Ronson and Chris Spedding, Yes/King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford, as well as surrealist artist Salvador Dali.
