MONICA ZETTERLUND Swedish Sensation (Columbia SEGS 47) RARE 1st Pressing Signed EP MINT-
Original RARE 7” EP by the great Swedish jazz singer Monica Zetterlund on Columbia Records (May 1958). Pressed in Norway for the Swedish jazz-market. Personally autographed by Monica Zetterlund.
On the four compositions included, Zetterlund is accompanied by members of the Gunnar Svensson Orchestra, featuring some of the most accomplished Swedish jazz-soloists of that era, among them Arne Domnerus on alto-sax, Ake Persson on trombone and American Joe Harris on drums. All the tracks were recorded during the same sessions that produced the UK album of the same name. What distinguishes this EP, is the fact that it was signed by Monica. She dedicated it to former Swiss radio- and record-producer Lance Tschannen who, for some time in the sixties, also presided over the European Jazz Federation, a now sadly defunct organisation. The record once was part of Lance’s personal record collection and with it’s beautiful cover, signed by Monica is certainly a unique collector’s item.
GRADING:
MINT- SLEEVE, near-perfect. Please see photos for details.
- Original full-colour flipback-style sleeve in pristine condition.
- Lightly bumped corner (at top right) with a small crease on back cover, as shown.
- Autographed by the artist: "Lance - My best - Monica Zetterlund" at top left.
EX+ RECORD in very fine condition.
- A few superficial hairlines on both sides, from sleeve removal only.
- Some minor background crackle on both sides.
- A small thumbnail scuff (not a scratch!) in the run-in to "Easy Street" is inaudible.
- Original blue Columbia Records labels are fully intact and without any spindle wear whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "7TS 197-A" and "7TS 198-A".
- Fully certified to be an original Swedish first pressing of Monica Zetterlund`s "Swedish Sensation" EP, released in April 1958.
