Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $5.87 Media (additional LP is no further charge)

1971 FINAL COLLETION KEEPER !

Impossible-difficult level finding this 54 years local primitive African pressing in any kind of decent condition. Normally the black gatefold cover is an invitation to wear and tear, yet this original is good as it gets = only bit of light well kept handling. Contains the old-style 60's "flap-back" seams on inside of super-fragile non-laminated gatefold ...Extremely scarce South African original released on Parlophone records in 1971.... MIGHTY heavy wah-wah fuzz led guitar rocker of the highest order.
A world class rated heavy psych album coming from all places lost and found, South Africa, featuring no less phased out vocals, heavy as lead thumping rhythms on the bass and drums and guitars that weave in and out of the tracks like a madman playing on acid.
Mind melter!
FREEDOM'S CHILDREN press release in their South Africa homeland from 1971 joyously stated:
Undeniably the greatest early 70s heavy psych band to come out of South Africa and arguably in the top ten of the world for the genre and era. This album, "Galactic Vibes" their third and final LP ( followed their well known and amazing "Astra" LP) contains an incredible 16 minute live version of "The Homecoming" ~~ a classic blistering, wailing masterpiece song of 70s heavy psychedelia whose shorter, studio version was featured on their "Astra" album.
The expanded "live" version allows the listener to travel back in time and experience to the thunderous raw cosmic energy of this great group, replete with banshee wailing, swirling psychedelic fuzz-wah guitar, intertwining and twisting, screeching, fazed out vocal, heavy-as-lead thumping, melodic bass & and arm-breaking megalomaniac drumming.
At live concerts the drummer would play a drum solo with his bare hands until they began to bleed (listen for the hand drum solo halfway in the solo of this LP).
The guitar player cavorted about like a mad scientist, squeezing frightening leads out of his guitar, while twisting knobs and hitting switches on a 3 feet high self-made effects machine (similar shape to a time machine).

The singer catapulted all over the stage, screeching and using his microphone stand as an axe to chop amps, organs and P.A. speakers.

Colin, the drummer used to walk in from the back wearing a white sheet and a candle and that's how the gig would start . . .And that's how thousands of Freedom's Children fans back in 1971 will remember them.

"Galactic Vibes" the LP remains a highly respectable 1971 masterpiece surviving in time and space, and still thrusting mightily a half century ago onward
The roughness of the album is due mainly to the inventive recording methods used. With layers of overdubs and no noise reduction, the method created what the sleeve notes describe as a 'musical mystical mist of sound'. This is a wonderful way to describe the slightly distorting guitars and vague hissing sounds.
To recap "Galactic Vibes"  features blistering fuzzy edged guitars on the thundering 'That Did It' as well as the quieter and beautiful 'Fields and Me'. Overall this is a many layered album, almost to the point of being cluttered, yet exactly what makes this album interesting.  Each time you listen you can hear something new, be it a tone in Brian Davidson's wailing vocals, a riff from Julian Laxton's screaming guitar, a sequence of notes from Barry Irwin's booming bass, the change from sticks to hands on Colin Pratley's awesome drumming.
