Description

Limited Edition 5-LP boxed set: The Complete Blue Note / U.A. Curtis Fuller Sessions: Mosaic MQ5-166.  Pressed on heavy, audiophile grade vinyl / USA]. (Condition: records are near mint; box is near mint w/ no splits; the invaluable booklet is VG++ w/ no tears, ceases or extraneous writing.) ||| These fine, late ’50’s sessions by trombonist Fuller finds him filling in the blanks left by the father of modern jazz ‘bone, J.J. Johnson. Actually that’s just the shorthand for the contributions made here. Curtis ate no one’s dust went it came to taking the instrument to new hard-bop levels. It’s a rare opportunity to hear him outside the Jazz Messenger’s sextet format, for which he is best known. Featuring many fine musicians like Hank Mobley, Bobby Timmons, Paul Chambers, Tate Houston (bari), Art Taylor, Sonny Clark, Art Farmer, Slide Hampton, Louis Hayes, Lee Morgan, Tommy Flanagan, Elvin Jones and several others. /\ Original sessions were released as The Opener; Bone & Bari; Curtis Fuller-Art Farmer; Two Bones (Japan issue only); Sliding Easy (a special salute to Mosaic for including this U.A. title).
If you don't have it, this one is the one to get!  Good Luck
