This is an extended play single by Mtume called "Prime Time." 4:09 in length. An 10" acetate record mastered onto this disc by Frankford/Wayne Mastering Lab of New York City. Produced by James Mtume. Released in 1985 by Epic Records. Taken from the album "You, Me, and He." In stereo. In its original white sleeve, no cardboard jacket. The back is the same song but an instrumental. I've owned this for 31 years and have not played it. It's time now to thin out my collection. I worked in the entertainment business here in Hollywood and got a lot of records for free. From Wikipedia: Mtume (pronounced em-tu-may) was a funk and soul group that rose to prominence during the early 1980s and had several R&B hits during its career. Its founder, former percussionist James Mtume, previously played and toured with Miles Davis in the early 1970s. Other members of the group included Reggie Lucas and Tawatha Agee. Mtume have also gained recognition after having its hit single "Juicy Fruit" extensively sampled by many hip-hop artists, most notably by the Notorious B.I.G. in the 1994 hit song 'Juicy'; the song was also featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The song 'C.O.D. (I'll Deliver)' from their album You, Me, and He was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Mtume's 1984, second to last album "You, Me, and He" also proved to be a success with the title song reaching number 2 on the R&B chart. AllMusic Guide by Ron Wynn A former jazz percussionist, Mtume moved into urban contemporary and funk in the late '70s and became one of the more successful producers and performers in both styles during the '80s. The son of the great jazz saxophonist Jimmy Heath, Mtume was a conga player and percussionist who recorded and toured with Miles Davis and was featured on albums by the Heath Brothers, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, and Freddie Hubbard. He even recorded as a bandleader for Strata-East before turning to funk in the late '70s. Mtume's band included the sassy, sultry vocalist Tawatha Agee, keyboardist Phil Fields, and bassist Ray Johnson. They had a number one R&B hit with "Juicy Fruit" for Epic in 1983 and a number two single in 1984 with "You, Me and He."
