MEGA RARE COLLECTION OF HARD TO FIND ORIGINAL CAST MUSICALS (see photos for complete playlists) :
1) THE GOLDEN APPLE (1954) (RCA Victor - LOC-1014) (SIGNED BY KAYE BALLARD while I was in her presence) Original Broadway cast recording of musical play. A musical adaptation of parts of the Iliad and Odyssey with music by Jerome Morris and lyrics by John Treville Latouche. Book by John Treville Latouche. Choreography and musical numbers staged by Hanya Holm. Musical director Hugh Ross. Directed by Norman Lloyd.The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 1954 and then transferred to Broadway at the Alvin Theatre were it played for only 125 performances despite rave reviews. Indeed, it was the winner of Best Musical 1953-54 - Drama Critics Circle Award.This musical introduced the now standard song Lazy Afternoon (sung by Kaye Ballard). CAST: Kaye Ballard (signed), Bibi Osterwald, Pricilla Gillette, Stephen Douglas, Jonathan Lucas, Portia Nelson. CONDITION: Vinyl = Excellent. Cover = Very Good.
2) HER FIRST ROMAN (1968) (Society For The Preservation Of Musicals = S.P.M. - No number - Label reads: NOT FOR SALE) This musical is based on the 1898 George Bernard Shaw play Cesar & Cleopatra. Music, lyrics and book by Ervin Drake. During the out-or-town tryout, the original director Michael Benthall was fired and replaced by Derek Goldby.Jerry Bock & Sheldon Harnick were brought in to write new songs. The show opened at the Lunt-Fontaine Theatre on October 20, 1968 and closed after 17 performances. This is why this LP is so RARE. CAST: Richard Kiley (Julius Caesar), Leslie Uggams (Cleopatra), Claudia McNeil, Earl Montgomery, Brooks Morton, Larry Douglas, Cal Bellini, Bruce MacKay, Priscilla Lopez. 3) LOLITA, MY LOVE (1971) (Blue Pear Records - BP-1009) (LIMITED COLLECTION EDITION) Musical original cast live recording of unsuccessful musical by John Barry (music) and Allan Jay Lerner (Book & Lyrics), based on Vladimir Nabokov's 1955 novel Lolita. It closed Boston in 1971 while on a tour prior to Broadway. This Lp is a live recording from the theatre sound board released by Blue Pear Records. Very RARE. Musical direction and vocal arrangements by Herbert Grossman. Orchestrations by Eddie Sauter. Choreography by Dan Siretta. Directed by Noel Willman. CAST: John Neville, Dorothy Loudon, Leonard Frey, Denise Nickerson. CONDITION: Vinyl = Excellent +. Cover = Very Good + (Ink pen writing on back cover (see photos).
