Folks. . . You are about to listen to some real old-fashioned hand- clappin’, foot pattin’ down home gospel as sung for you by a group of dedicated, young Christian musicians from the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, THE SONGMEN. By contrast, the title song of the album is SOMETHING HAPP- ENED by Darrell Adams and I NEED SOMEONE by Chris White shows the styles of music the Songmen do so well. Another song written by Gene Waters is the unique I ALMOST MISSED HEAVEN. Chris steps back into the writing spotlight again as the group pre- sents his great song WHEN IT COMES MY TIME FOR LEAVING. Tim Hendrick and Dwight Waters combine their talents for the song SAILING. Bethel White adds his music by the moving and beaut- iful ON A LONELY HILL. Completing this album are STANDING ON THE ROCK, I WON’T TAKE TIME and one of my all time fav- orites, JUST A LITTLE CLOSER HOME, and, by the way, all these song-writers are members of the group. Listen, also, to one of gospel music’s finest instrumental groups. THE SONGMEN, having appeared with Jerry and the Goffs, The Kingsmen, the Hemphills and many other groups, have come a long way in such a short time.
