Mendelssohn Midsummer Night’s Dream Maag UK Decca SXL 2238 WBG ED1
The London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of Covent Garden conducted by Peter Maag performs the “Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Mendelssohn. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2060 stampers 2K/1E) the labels are black and silver with “Original Recording by…” at 10 o’clock, Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound logo, and fatband, and a groove. Unfortunately, the record has a deep scratch (for about a third of the “Wedding March”) that is quite audible. Otherwise the record is of excellent appearance plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has rubbed a little with small creases in the laminate along the edges and there is a small tear at the bottom edge. The back with its blue ffss border has some tape stain along the bottom.
