Description

Johann Sebastian Bach: St. Matthew's Passion

Willem Mengelberg conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Choruses.

With Erb, Ravelli, Vincent, Durigo and many more.

Ed1 Philips mono-pressing from the 50s with plum & silver minigroove-labels.

Recording is from 1939.

4LP box with article-no. A 00150 L- A 00153 L.

Country of manufacture can't be determined, but it's probably a German pressing, maybe Dutch.

  • Condition Box: VG to VG+. Some storage wear, rim of lid is damaged in several spots.

  • Condition Vinyls: EX to NM. Records can hardly have ever been played. They have lost a bit of luster over the decades, but you couldn't tell from playback.

As this is a pressing from the first half of the fifties and a recording from the 30s, there's some expectable surface-sounds in the quieter passages, but practically no

crackling-noises. Massive, early flat edge pressings, discs weigh between and 230 and 250g.

General Information:

- Shipping-rates may differ for different destinations, please check details below for more information or shortly adress me.

- I offer combined shipping for multiple purchases and I'll always send an invoice with correct rates shortly after auction-end.

- Unless you notify me in time, payment is expected within 5 days after receiving of invoice. If I don't at least hear from you in between, I'll send a non-payment notification through Ebay
   afterwards.

- I use sturdy cardboard-boxes and cardboard-dividers, both specifically designed for the safe shipping of vinyl records.

- Most LPs receive new antistatic innersleeves (in addition to the original ones, which of course are also provided). I, however, don't add new sleeves, if the original ones seem fitting.

- If in doubt about anything, please contact me, I'm glad to assist you with any possible queries!

A note about my record-grading:

I usually only visually grade the LPs under strong light and I only playgrade them ( i.e. the portions that seem to have signs of usage), if I can't be sure of their actual condition.
If records show stronger signs of soiling I'll professionally clean them (Okki Nokki RCM), but I'm not doing this if it's obviously only dust, as I know that collectors usually prefer their
very own way of record-cleaning.

My goal is to always decribe the records appropriately and I will name every visible and/or audible defect in my detailed description. If regardless of my precautions
you should ever be dissatisfied with the condition of a record, please contact me before leaving negative or neutral feedback to give me the chance to resolve your query.
I'm confident, however, that this will hardly ever be the case. I've been selling records for many years now and so far complaints fortunately have been the utter exception!
