The record is in Near Mint condition Played to test for this auction. Sounds great. Super clean. I, the seller, have been the only owner of this copy. Acquired when I worked in a record store at the time of the record release in 1988. Both discs are stored in protective Discwasher Valuable Record Protector sleeves to preserve the vinyl quality and to avoid damage to the original picture sleeves.
The jacket, as with other Metallica vinyl records being auctioned by me, has seen better days, but is still in Very Good condition. Was in excellent condition prior to being damaged by water several years ago. Please also note - since this was a promo - that there is a promo marking notch cut into a small area of the upper left portion of the jacket spine (see photos). The water damage effected the bottom of the jacket. Due to this, there is one small rip in the jacket (see photo #5). In general, aside from that rip and some minor staining (see photos 6 &7), the damage is hardly noticeable, but it is there. I’ve attempted to show that damage in the photos. The original paper picture sleeves show minor flaws from the water damage as well. Thankfully, the records were not effected a bit.
Moral to the story about the condition flaws: Don’t place the ‘M’ section of your record collection on a floor that could one get soaked due to a plumbing leak. That was a sad day, but luckily everything was salvageable and the records live on!
