Mike Oldfield- Tubular Bells  - Virgin Records VA 13135 Progressive Rock Vinyl LP

  • 1979 Specialty Records Corporation (SP) Pressing/Reissue
  • High gloss, extremely clean vinyl; appears mint - NM
  • Outer jacket in side opened shrink; hype - NM
Mike Oldfield's iconic debut album, Tubular Bells, originally released in 1973 on Virgin Records, is a landmark in progressive rock and instrumental music. This 1979 pressing features the legendary theme famously used in the classic horror film The Exorcist, making it a sought-after collector's item. The album is presented in it's original sleeve (open Shrink) with striking surreal artwork showcasing the tubular bell instrument floating above a stormy seascape.
This vinyl record includes the full two-part composition, with Side One and Side Two each dedicated to a long-form instrumental suite. Produced by Mike Oldfield along with Simon Heyworth and Tom Newman, the album showcases a rich blend of instruments including guitars, piano, organs, percussion, mandolin, and choirs, all performed by Oldfield and select collaborators. The Virgin label's classic white and blue logo is displayed on the record labels, with catalog number VA 13135 clearly visible. This pressing was manufactured and distributed in the USA in 1979. The record appears rarely played and handled, with the outer jacket wearing the original side opened shrink with hype. Extraordinary copy.
