DIRECTION IN MUSIC BY MILES DAVIS, Miles Davis Bitches Brew Columbia Records GP 26, featuring Dave Holland, Harvey Brooks, Bennie Maupin, Don Alias, Jack DeJohnette, Lenny White, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Larry Young, Jim Riley and Wayne Shorter GP26
CONDITION: Very nice copy, conservatively graded and based on listening to the record in its entirety (a joy, actually) the afternoon of August 7, 2016 while preparing this listing, using my Hitachi HT45 turntable with an Audio Technica DC30 cartridge tracking at about 1.5 grams. The record has some light surface noise throughout that is most noticeable, of course, in the "empty" grooves between the tracks and in quieter sections of the pieces where instrumentation is minimal. The vinyl has some light surface scratches and scuffs, but luckily nothing serious enough to interrupt the overall outstanding audio performance. The labels are clean, white and black lettering on red background and Columbia 360 Sound with two-eye logo, with little if anything in the way of spindle marks. The record jacket is in excellent condition. There is ring wear, front and back, that is easily visible in the photographs for this auction. In addition there are "dings' to each of the four corners, but with minimal abrading to the sleeve's cardboard. The interior of the gatefold-type jacket is gorgeous. Spine is clean, with all text legible and just a little edge wear. NO RECORD JACKET SEAM SPLITS. The original inner sleeves vary in the toning to the paper. Not sure what that is about; one of the inner sleeves has a seam split at the bottom. All of the above is shared as MY responsibility in our deal, and in the interest of full disclosure. In truth, this is an amazingly nice copy, especially for a classic jazz record now in the 46th year of its existence. For the aficionado, following are the matrix numbers:
