Description

Moody fans are in an excellent position to insist on ONLY the very BEST from their early collectible pressings. It needs to be a corker - it HAS to be....
An original 1st mono press of OTTOAD on UK Deram. Produced in quite small quantities to fulfil pre-orders for a format that was now only niche. Matrix 2W/2W - 1st cut. Stampers 1B/1M - placing it amongst the 1st few thousand copies ever pressed. Note the inverted matrix numbers - this pressing is pre summer 1969. 1st released in Spring 1969. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with internal lyric pages and laminated exterior. We also have an original red/mono Decca inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen the lightest use. Under close inspection there are a couple of very slightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. With MOODY the MOST difficult aspect of sourcing copies is that their audio is typically some of the most delicate and intricate of anything that ever entered the charts. You're going to need a really well preserved copy to stand even half a chance of a decent rendition. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really really clean player which will give you maximum opportunity to take in these classic tracks to full effect. I most certainly have NEVER witnessed a better/cleaner copy than this spring-69 copy. All sections play clean and I'm struggling to pick out anything at all in the background. Just a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) In great condition and that exterior lamination really does make all the difference. That front is looking extremely smart with one tiny thumbnail crease. The opening panel can get deformed - but here it is totally preserved with full rigidity. The rear is looking just as good as the front. The interior looks well above average and hasn't succumbed to the usual ageing. There are, however, a couple of minor blemishes on that opening right page [no big deal]. All pages are present and have not been heavily thumbed - or aged. Very little edge wear with nice firm openings. All text on the spine is fully legible. But, as is very common, there is a fold running top to bottom down the spine. The cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Really nice condition with very little ageing. Bag present. No splits.
