Hard to find and highly recommended lp with the great Gerd Zacher performing experimental organ works with help from Juan Allende-Blin. Feldman's Intersection 3 is considered one of the earliest graphical scores and was originally for piano; this lp has a special version for organ proposed by the composer for Zacher. In it, Zacher uses the unusual technique of stopping the organ's wind supply to create some wonderfully strange glitchy sounds. The improvised realization of Cage's indeterminate piece was made by Zacher and Allende-Blin on organ (with each player restricted to half of the organ controls), percussion, and wind instruments. Zacher's Re is a minimalist work that focuses on a single organ "pedal-point" and all of its "harmonic and disharmonic components" and the experimental sounds that can be created by the two performers altering the organ's settings while it is being played. Englert's piece has the organist playing along with a tape of prerecorded organ sounds made by the composer on his own organ.

Morton Feldman studied under Wallingford Riegger and Stefan Wolpe and was influenced by Scriabin, Ligeti, Cornelius Cardew, and Mauricio Kagel; he became a key member of the New York School of experimental American composers (John Cage, Earle Brown, David Tudor, Christian Wolff), was one of the first composers to use graphic notation (a technique influenced by his many close friends in the visual arts such as Mark Rothko, Philip Guston, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, and Robert Rauschenberg), and he also pioneered the use of indeterminacy. • Cage, arguably the most influential American composer of the 20th century, was known for his innovative use of chance methods, silence, found sounds, and extended playing and electroacoustic treatment techniques on traditional instruments; he studied under Henry Cowell and Arnold Schoenberg, led the New York School of early postwar experimental composers, was a contemporary of Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis, collaborated with Conlon Nancarrow, David Tudor, and Merce Cunnigham, and was associated with the Fluxus 'post-dada' art movement (Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, George Maciunas, La Monte Young, Milan Knizak, etc.). • Allende-Blin is a Chilean composer who studied under Olivier Messiaen at Darmstadt, was influenced by Anton Webern, Arnold Schoenberg, Cesar Franck, and Claude Debussy, and is known for his extension of the technical possibilities of the organ. • Zacher studied under Olivier Messiaen, Fritz Lubrich, Guenter Bialas, Kurt Thomas, Hans Heintze, Michael Schneider, Theodor Kaufmann, and Helmut Walcha, and is known for his interpretations of modern composers including Feldman, Cage, Mauricio Kagel, Gyorgy Ligeti, Otte, Schnebel, and Yun.
