You are bidding on an exceedingly rare, hard prog/psych lp by Mouse called "Lady Killer", Sovereign stereo SVNA 7262. This is an original, 1973 UK pressing, made and printed in Great Britain. Included is the original vinyl, the original UK inner sleeve, and the original Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd gatefold cover. This is a hot-stamper first pressing. I have listened to it through my Rogers LS6a BBC monitors and the resolution and sound quality are utterly astounding. In fact, I came close to deciding to keep this lp for myself simply because it's such an awesome example of what good vinyl can sound like at it's best. The matrix information is as follows: Side 1- SVNA 7262 A-1U with the inscription, "ROME WATCHES WHILE CAESAR BURNS". Side 2- SVNA B-1U with the inscription, "JAMIE".

The jacket is in nice condition. There is a small promo/hole punch through the upper right hand corner. There is some fraying to the upper left corner of the spine and some light ring wear on the rear of the jacket. There is some yellowing along the bottom edge of the inner gatefold section. Overall I would say it's a strong VG+; very presentable with above noted defects.

Vinyl appears exceptionally clean. The labels are immaculate and crisp. Visually, I am tempted to grade the vinyl NM...but I would like to lean on the safe side and call it a strong EX. I have played this lp using an Ortofon OM20 cartridge tracking at 1.9 grams and it sounds fresh, quiet, bold, dynamic, and quite amazing. Whoever engineered and mastered this record knew exactly what they were doing. However, there is a small edge warp which does not seem effect side 1 at all. On side 2, you can hear a bit of a bumping sound for part of the first track as the edge warp rotates, though the lp does not skip and the track plays fine otherwise. The defect is resolved by the end of the track and no issue whatsoever by the time track 2 begins.

These appear on ebay maybe once a year if you're lucky. Record will be removed from original inner sleeve and placed in an alternate sleeve outside the jacket to avoid seam splits during shipping. Please NOTE a few comments regarding playback of this lp: I've been so awestruck by the sound quality of this lp, that this afternoon I decided to listen to it one more time. It's as though this album is a calibration standard, of sorts, for measuring performance of a hi-fi setup. I performed a couple of listening tests with different arms and cartridges and I observed that on a vintage, quality Technics turntable with the stock arm and the Ortofon OM20 cartridge, this lp plays quiet and with minimal disturbance by the edge warp. Installing the OM20 in my Rek-O-Kut S-120 broadcast arm mounted on my modified Lenco L75 and the effects of the warp become more evident and there is more surface noise. Obviously the ancient Rek-O-Kut arm is not as nimble or refined as the more modern Technics arm. Changing over to my 1959 Stanton 380 stereo cartridge and the surface noise vanishes, but the first track on side 2 becomes unplayable during most of the 1st track. This is likely due to the ultra-stiff suspension of the Stanton. The point of all of this is that I am suggesting that playback of this lp will absolutely vary depending on what particular gear you are using. Some rigs will handle the challenge of the warped section better than others. Please keep that in mind and be advised as such so that there are no issues when we complete our transaction. Heavier arms and stiffer cartridges will not handle challenging or modulated passages as well as lighter arms and modern cartridges that have have a reputation for being superb trackers. Thanks!
