Description
Decca LP Boxed Set SXL 2087-90 - ED1 Original UK Stereo issue of this justly famous set - Wide band labels with groove and "Original Recording by" at 10 o'clock. Erich Kleiber conducts the VPO and Vienna State Opera in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro".
Condition: 3 of the 4 LPs are in VG++ or better condition, with some light non-sounding scuffs visible, but sounding excellent. Unfortunately, the other LP, SXL 2089, comprising sides 3 and 6, is only in Fair condition, with quite bad scuffs on both sides (see photos 3 and 4) causing numerous ticks (but no repeats or skips) on my equipment. On the plus side, the LPs reproduce at a fairly healthy volume, so it doesn't sound quite as bad as it looks. The box, too is only in Fair condition - all the corners are burst, and a piece of the bottom edge of the front of the box is missing (see picture 5). The laminated front cover is in excellent condition - it's the (earlier?) version with the same picture as the mono edition. (It does however state "SXL" on the spine.) The libretto in very good condition is also included - cue points for the side numbers have been added in pencil. The LPs are in modern anti-static inner sleeves, with the original blue "FFSS" inner sleeves also included - the corners are a little crumpled, but otherwise in excellent condition.
