Description

Here is one of the mega rare and sought after Celtic Prog pieces on its original Irish pressing by Hawk (HALPX016). This rarely comes up for sale.

Play tested twice. Pressing quality in the first place is very good. This has had considerable play and it shows it. No jumps or sticks and it doesn’t have the wear or manufacturing issue some seem to have. Overall G+. Tracks as they sound to me:-

Side one –  there is a W shape light scratch over the entire side and a deeper scratch of about 2cm on end of T2 and T3 starting to diminish on T4

1)     Light noise in background G+

2)     Light clicks and background noise G+\VG. Clicks evident at track end

3)     Heavy clicks throughout G

4)     Clicks for first 30 seconds then quietens down but is present until 2/3rds G+ then VG. Run out clicks

 Side two – In much better order, hairlines

      1)     Very light noise – VG

2)     Light noise at start – VG

3)     Plays well – comfortable VG

4)     Light click between track, light background noise and clicks – G+

5)     Light click between track plays quite well G+\VG

6)     Light click between track. Run out light noise VG

The sleeve is VG order. It has ageing. Laminate is starting to wear and there is creasing toward the spine 7 x 1 to 1.5cm pulls and two on the bottom edge. There is a split to the open edge of 12mm x 1mm – a bit of careless in and out of the sleeve. There is a pin hole above the L on the catalogue number which goes through to the back sleeve. No inner or poster. Spine is starting to wear. Inner gatefold pic is VG with ageing. I suspect it has had a repair. Labels and spindles in VG or better.

Overall this is better than a collection filler and not too bad a play copy, especially side two. It may come up better with a pro-clean which might get rid of some of the noise. I certainly would do that before risking on a high end turntable. Otherwise a great piece to own.
