Description

Music From The South. Volumes 1 to 10. Folkways Records. A scarce complete set of the music that Frederic Ramsey recorded in 1954 in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Sam Charters wrote "Ramsey has somehow captured a feeling of presence that has never been so forcibly presented.... There are country brass bands, revival religious groups, harmonica players, guitarists, string bands."  The set offers a picture of a vanished world. All the records are in very good condition, and all the booklet inserts are present and complete. The sleeves are also in good condition, although some of the heavy, cardboard sleeves have minor splits( which have been taped) as is not uncommon with Folkways records of this period.
