At just 23 years old, Sérgio Dias was already considered one of the greatest guitarists in Latin America. At that moment, in 1974, the legendary band that had placed him in that position, Os Mutantes, no longer existed. At least not in the configuration that all of Brazil knew. Serginho was alone — his brother Arnaldo Baptista, Rita Lee, Liminha, and Dinho had left — each of them at a crucial stage of their journey.   
Sérgio changed, and with him, the concept of Os Mutantes also changed. For him, in 1974, music was "religion, spiritual enlightenment, his own life." Like Sérgio Dias, three other young men were on the same wavelength: bassist Antonio Pedro de Medeiros, keyboardist Túlio Mourão, and drummer Rui Motta. A new version of Os Mutantes was emerging.
The recordings for Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol took place at RCA studios in Copacabana, in a single take; in other words, we can say that the album was practically recorded "live in the studio." Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol was the best-selling album of Os Mutantes' career, and the tour that followed was also the most extensive in the group's history. If it weren't for the creative confinement of musical labels, perhaps the last studio album by Os Mutantes of the 1970s would be better understood. Accused of being the most progressive and the least Brazilian of Os Mutantes' albums, the LP was a commercial success at the time, but even today it generates discomfort among Tropicalia's widows. 
Fifty years later, the cult following surrounding Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol seems stronger than ever. The album found its audience, its niche, under the banner of progressive rock.
This Três Selos/Rocinante edition is on black vinyl, includes a double cover, poster, and simple insert with lyrics and text by journalist and writer Bento Araujo, author of the Lindo Sonho Delirante book series.

The 1974 album Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol (Everything Was Made by the Sun) is a pivotal and unique statement in the career of the Brazilian band Os Mutantes, marking their first release after the departure of founding members Rita Lee and Arnolpho Lima Filho (Liminha). While stylistically different from their iconic 60s albums, this release stands as an underrated gem of the Latin American Progressive Rock scene, praised for its uncompromising musical ambition and experimental zeal during a period of intense artistic transformation for the group.
