LOUIS ARMSTRONG & HIS SAVOY BALLROOM FIVE deliver three minutes of pure joy, "NO ONE ELSE BUT YOU." Besides Louis, EARL HINES (piano) contributes mightily, as do - what the hell - all the other members: FRED ROBINSON, trombone; DON REDMAN, clarinet, alto, arranger; DAVE WILBORN, banjo and guitar; ZUTTY SINGLETON, drums.
On the flip, is a completely different and no less epochal side, "I CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING BUT LOVE," by LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS ORCHESTRA. This was Louis' first foray into big-time pop music. Backed up by Luis Russell and his Orchestra, Louis is front and center for the whole three minutes (except for a fine trombone solo by J. C. HIGGINBOTHAM), and nobody complained! Both Louis' trumpet solo and vocals made BIG waves, were endlessly influential. This record set the pattern for his sides for the next seventeen years!
This original 1929 OKeh 41204 is in V++ condition - slight, even wear, some graying at the peaks. Still plays very cleanly. This was my copy for about thirty years!

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
