Cosa significa Half Speed Mastering?/What does Half Speed Mastering mean?
Il termine Half Speed Mastering si riferisce alla velocità alla quale la registrazione originale viene masterizzata nella lacca dalla quale verranno successivamente stampati i dischi. La maggior parte degli LPs sono masterizzati a velocità standard e questo significa che il nastro master gira alla stessa velocità con la quale sono state registrate le sessioni originali, mentre la lacca gira a 33 1/3 giri al minuto. Se invece le due macchine vengono fatte girare a velocità dimezzata lo stilo avrà il doppio del tempo per incidere ogni possibile dettaglio e modulazione del solco, per quanto piccola, ed il risultato sarà un LP nel quale potrete ascoltare particolari dei vostri dischi preferiti che non avevate mai percepito in precedenza.
Half Speed Mastering refers to the speed of mastering for the original recording onto the master lacquer, which is then used to make the masters that press each vinyl LP. Many standard LPs are mastered at standard speed, which means that the master tape moves at the same speed as the original recording session and the master lacquer moves at 33 1/3 rpm. In contrast, running each of these machines at half-speed allows twice as much time for the cutting stylus to cut every possible detail, and delicate groove modulation, resulting in LPs where you can hear details and nuances on your favorite albums that you never heard before!
