This insanely scarce gem is among the rarest early electronic vinyls I know of in existence (those of you who follow my auctions know that's saying something!) - certainly never before seen on eBay. It's a private issue radio transcription album documenting some of the newly invented electronic and sound sculpture instruments on display at the legendary 1958 Brussels World's Fair, from a France-funded English language radio program called "Masterworks From France," with brief narration before each track. Most significantly, this contains an entire repertoire of little-known avant garde compositions for the Ondioline proto-synthesizer, an early electronic keyboard instrument built in 1940 by Georges Jenny (and popularized in the heyday of space-age pop by Jean-Jacques Perrey, Esquivel, Attilio Mineo, Kai Winding, and Al Kooper, as well as by Hollywood composer Alex North in Spartacus). The Ondioline tracks, which take up more than 1 side, are all exclusive to this set, never released elsewhere! There are also 3 tracks for the Crystal Organ glass sound sculpture (one of the Structures Sonores built by Bernard and Francois Baschet), including 1 brief piece "Impromptu" that is exclusive to this set, making this a find for Lasry-Baschet fans as well as early electronic collectors. Mesdames Robert and Campiche and Darius Cittanova play the Ondioline, and Jacques and Yvonne Lasry play the Crystal Organ. Includes photocopied insert with minimal credits, album also includes the 20th century choral composition "Images Bibliques" taking up 2 sides as a separate unrelated radio program.

The 1958 Brussels Fair was the most musically visionary world's fair, where attendees could stroll from exhibits on experimental instruments featuring the Ondioline, Les Structures Sonores, and Julian Carrillo's Gold Medal-winning 16th-tone piano to the groundbreaking multimedia installation at the Philips Pavilion created by Le Corbusier, Iannis Xenakis, and Edgard Varese; this artifact of early electronic music history will be of interest to fans of Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Tom Dissevelt, Dick Raaijmakers, Raymond Scott, Theremin, Clara Rockmore, Samuel Hoffman, ARP, Buchla, Moog, Oskar Sala, Trautonium, Stereolab, Aphex Twin, Roger Roger, Cecil Leuter, Ondes Martenot, John Eaton, Syn-Ket, Hugh Le Caine, Gershon Kingsley, and Kraftwerk.
