Description
From my personal collection: Up for auction is a 1969/1972 UK pressing of Nick Drake's "Five Leaves Left" album.
This transitional issue still comes in the 1st pressing's sleeve from 1969, but the vinyl is the 2nd pressing from 1972---which is hardly less rare than the first pressing. When the 2nd pressing with the famous pink-rim label came out in 1972, it had a slightly different sleeve design as well. However, apparently for some copies Island Records used leftovers of the first pressing's sleeves. This is one of them.
Catalogue number is ILPS-9105, matrix no. ILPS 9105 A/B - 3U. The quality of the heavy vinyl is superb, and so is the gatefold sleeve made by Ernest J. Day. Please have a look at the pictures---the vinyl is in stunning condition, nice and shiny. You probably won't find a better copy of this 2nd pressing from 1972. The sleeve looks used but it's still decent and solid, definitely acceptable due to its rarity. Some ringwear, edge and spine wear, corner rubbing but no seam or spine splits, no tears, just one slight crease in the top right corner (see pictures). Original inner sleeve has artist name and album title written on.
I grade conservatively.
