Greetings,
For sale is this first UK pressing of Nick Drake's debut LP, Five Leaves Left. This is the gatefold Island release from 1969. Catalogue number ILPS-9105. Stereo pressing. Pink and black labels. Non-original inner sleeve. The condition of gatefold sleeve is fair, as can be seen in the photos there is tape residue stain on the back cover on the left edge, the edges are worn and the spine is frayed. The bottom and top of the gatefold sleeve holding the record are split, bottom about 50%, top 25%. Still perfectly functional though. The photos on the front, back and inside the gatefold are clean and look beautiful.
As for the condition of the disc, there are two scratches on the record, one more significant than the other. Side one has a long scratch across the whole side which does add a click throughout the side, however the side plays smoothly and doesn't skip at all, it is a click that blends in with the crackle of the side to a more or lesser extent as the side plays through. Overall, it is noticeable throughout but not overwhelmingly intrusive. Side two has a similar scratch which runs through the first track of the side but is only really audible for the first thirty seconds of the side. After this, the second side plays very smoothly indeed. Again, no skips at all.

Despite these two scratches, the record still sounds incredible. The soundstage is extremely wide and detailed, it is still an absolute joy to listen to. Aside from the two marks, the disc is a VG and the cover is a G.

** NOTE - As of Saturday 25th April, I just found the original inner-sleeve inside another reggae (?!) record on my shelf so the auction now includes THE ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE TOO!!! SEE LATEST PHOTO. Inner sleeve is in great shape!!
