Description
A genuine and very 1st UK PYE press from '69. Matrix A1/B1. Those very distinctive tri colour Reprise Steamboat labels - totally cool. The title track will be on everyone's radar - and 'yes' it is an absolute cracker.. and has been re-hashed a million times. BUT - THIS is the original cut and it is THE REAL DEAL. But don't be thinking that's all there is to this release - there's plenty of great funky audio on this release. The vinyl is monster heavy as PYE were famed for. If you hit anyone with this copy you're gonna do damage! But heavy weight means deep deep grooves. And that means the audio, from '69 close on to those original masters, has the absolute best chance of surviving. The vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill cover. Do yourself a favour - go and look at what a usual '69 copy looks like after 50 years...then come back to this one. Notice anything..? The cover is true 1st issue with pinched spine and employs heavy card. We also have an original inner from the time too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and still retains beautiful lustre having seen only slight use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Wow - a total cracker for audio. If you are an audio nut and get a kick out of hearing deep into the audio. Or have to insist on a perfectly clean signal. Or really wanna hear the guitar distortion perfectly resolved...then you could do a lot worse than take a close look at this one. For audio it is astoundingly good. And I don't mean good for this title - I mean GREAT for ANY title. Totally addictive and a total show stopper. Cannot fault it. Don't think I've ever heard a cleaner copy...and I mean ANY copy. Really clean into the quietest sections. I couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. The Harmonica is like...Wow. It's like you're right there. Don't really wanna sell this one....BUT dang... I gotta .. So here it is. Make sure it goes to a good home. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) As I mentioned above I don't figure on anyone finding a better looking copy anytime soon. That cover is literally hellishly difficult to find looking like this. Some might say - close to impossible. Those photos do not lie - this cover is almost perfectly white. Perfectly flat and unaged both side. All I could make out was a couple of very superficial thumbnails on the front. The rear is like absolutely bangin...Minimal edge wear and sharp openings. Spine is 100% intact. Which i would imagine is super unusual. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Vg) Only VG! Ha.. you can't win'em all. Inner bag missing...possibly? A bit of ageing. No splits.
