Baron Elmo proudly presents an intensely desirable vinyl item born of the mad brilliance of aural alchemist Steven Stapleton, aka NURSE WITH WOUND: An Awkward Pause, released in 1999 on Stapleton’s United Dairies label. This double lp (limited to a mere 500 copies) is an essential Nurse purchase even for those who own the CD edition… as they both differ in significant ways, right down to the differently hued cover art. (Pause for deep breath.) Okay. The FIRST record of this set is An Awkward Pause, minus two of the five tracks from the CD. Those two turn up in different versions on Side One of the SECOND lp, which is entitled A Shoe Fly Debris Situation. And best of all, the reverse side of Shoe Fly features the heart-stopping bonus of the title track, an excellent 23-minute NWW piece that is exclusive to this vinyl edition, unavailable elsewhere in any format. Everything that makes Nurse With Wound great can be found in abundance on this album – the warping of pop structure into surreal soundscapes that dazzle and surprise… the delicious sense of absurdity and oddball humor… the sheer unpredictability of every moment, that feeling that anything can happen at any time, and that whatever it is, it will sound amazing. Nurses in attendance include David “Current 93” Tibet (who contributes one of his all-time finest vocal performances on “Two Shaves and a Shine”), Christoph Heemann, Colin Potter and guitar strangler Peat Bog. The records are both pressed on grey vinyl. This title was, as mentioned above, limited to 500 copies worldwide. Both records and the cover are in beautiful, mint condition... Baron Elmo purchased two copies of this set upon its release, and this one has never been played at all.
