OCIE STOCKARD AND HIS WANDERERS - The Famous Fourteen, 1937 (VINYL LP, c.1985)
One of the charter members of the ground-breaking Western Swing band, Milton Brown's Musical Brownies, Ocie Stockard went on to form his own band after the untimely death of Milton Brown and the breakup of the Brownies. On September 11, 1937 the band known as the Stockard Wanderers recorded 14 tracks in a Dallas warehouse, all of which are on this record. Unfortunately that was the last time the band recorded anything and for various reasons the band drifted apart shortly after that. However, Stockard would later reappear as a member of Bob Wills' Texas Playboys, where he continued to play with Wills until 1952.
