THE ENERGY OF A LIVE SHOW, THE SOUND QUALITY OF A STUDIO! Oingo Boingo live was a revelation. They were tight, fast, fun, and totally responsive to the audience’s energy. If you didn’t leave an Oingo Boingo gig soaked head to toe in sweat, you weren’t at an Oingo Boingo gig. And yet, Elfman being a perfectionist, the band didn’t release a live album until 1996, a year after its breakup. This is not that. This is Boingo Alive, Elfman’s initial answer to putting out a live album. To capture the energy of a live show while maintaining the high production values of an in-studio recording, Elfman had the entire band come to the studio and perform as if it was a concert. The result is a solid collection celebrating the band’s first decade (1979-1988).
VINYL: 2 LPs, 4 sides, 21 songs—all mint! No hisses, pops, scratches, or scuffs. LABELS: virginal. JACKET: colors remain vivid, seams intact, corners solid; ever-so-slight hint of ringwear along top (from storage, not use). SLEEVES: printed with some creasing from storage, no splitting. PRESS KIT: two-sided press release and official band pic in an MCA Records folder—all in great shape.
