Parisian producer Onra returns to Irish imprint All City for his fourth solo album. The whopping 32-track selection is a follow-up to the Frenchman's 2007 debut opus Chinoiseries, which was painstakingly pieced together using samples from old Chinese and Vietnamese records. It certainly makes for an intriguing deviation from last year's excellent Long Distance album, which delved into the realm of R&B, funk and boogie sampledelica, with excellent original vocal contributions from the likes of Reggie B and Oliver Day Soul. Unsurprisingly, there's much to explore on Chinoiseries Pt 2, but we find ourselves returning to the raw drum workout and cut up vocals on "Mai's Theme 2? and ridiculously addictive loop-driven jam "Stay With Me" time and time again. Highly recommended!
