Description
Rare 1966 UK Mono Original – The Connoisseur’s Otis Redding
Up for sale is a beautiful original UK Mono pressing of The Soul Album, released on the iconic Atlantic "Plum and Orange" label. This is the preferred way to experience Otis: raw, punchy, and centered.
Why this copy is a "Sample Gold" staple:
The Mono Punch: Unlike the panned stereo versions, the Mono mix (587011) keeps the rhythm section—bass and drums—locked in the center. Producers value this for the "weight" it provides for drum loops and brass stabs.
Key Tracks: Features the definitive '634-5789' (a masterclass in brass stabs) and the atmospheric 'Cigarettes and Coffee', a holy grail for soulful hip-hop production loops.
The Sound: Stamped matrix in the deadwax. This 1960s vinyl carries a depth of sub-bass that modern digital remasters simply cannot replicate.
Condition Report:
Vinyl (VG+): Exceptionally clean with high luster. Only a few very light surface wisps that do not affect the powerful mono audio. No skips or loud pops.
Labels: Classic Plum and Orange design. No spindle wear, no writing, no stickers. Bright and vibrant.
Sleeve (VG): The original front-laminated flipback sleeve is in great shape for its 60-year history. Strong spine and clean flipbacks. Some minor age-toning on the unlaminated rear.
The Provenance:
This record has been part of a one-owner collection belonging to a professional musician in Liverpool since its release. It has been cared for in a smoke-free, stable environment.
