A truly impressive copy of this very rare and highly sought after 1970 UK 1st press prog/psych gem, on the sought after KEY record label, KL 006

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1   KL 006A - 3 *T with stamper "D" at 1 o'clock 

Side 2  KL 006B - 3 *T with stamper "B" at 8 o'clock

In normal daylight the appearance of the vinyl is excellent (EX). Glossy, completely flat and nicely thick vinyl with jet black lacquering and a beautiful sheen. Close scrutiny under a bright light reveals some wispy hairlines and a few very light, small scuff marks - all superficial and nothing that appears to be below the surface. Clearly this record has been carefully looked after and comes across as being underplayed. Overall I would grade the condition of the vinyl as very good plus (VG+).

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). Beautiful labels with all text, all colouring, and the rare "KEY" logo all in wonderful condition. There are just a couple of small, barely noticeable faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label but apart from that perfect! 

The condition of the front side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is very good plus (VG+). All edges remain firm with just some minimal, sporadic light scuff marks on the bottom edge only, and the corners remain nicely defined right angles with minimal rubbing. There are also some occasional 1-2cm surface laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the front side edges but these are superficial and do not impinge upon the firmness of the edges themselves, and the spine remains in great shape - rigid with all text perfectly intact. There is also some very mild ringwear on the front side but only just noticeable when the sleeve is held at the right angle in a good light. The reverse side remains impressive also with just a few superficial glitches : some laminate creasing on the flipbacks though the flipbacks themselves remain in excellent condition; there are also a few small "nicks" and a single light 3cm score line about 6cm above the "Side 1" text. Otherwise all text is perfectly intact, as is the artwork and colouring all of which remains rich, vibrant and well defined. The colouring on the front side in particular is truly excellent.

Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent (EX). There is great tone and clarity throughout even at higher volume and frequencies. There are no skips or repeats and upon playback I could detect no clicking at all, and no background crackle. The sound quality on this record is a definite excellent with every track on this "under the radar", rare 1970 prog/psych gem still making for a great listen. More psych than prog and a really high quality album with some terrific guitar work - "There you see a stranger" and "Light" are particular standouts but there is not a weak track on this brilliant LP which is only now really receiving the attention and credit it deserves, resulting in fewer copies coming onto the market (there were not that many in the first place!) and fast increasing prices for impressive and highly presentable 1st press copies such as this.

In summary a very nice condition and highly presentable copy of this rare and sought after 1970 UK 1st press "under the radar" prog/psych gem - a worthy addition to any serious vinyl collection and only continuing to increase in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
