Guitar genius Zakk Wylde started out as a fresh-faced kid in Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1987, replacing Jake E. Lee. Zakk played on his first Ozzy album in 1988 (titled 'No Rest for the Wicked'). By 1991, Ozzy and Zakk were on a roll, and they released the critically acclaimed 'No More Tears', a top ten hit on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The song "I Don't Want to Change the World" even won a Grammy! This album was the last to feature drummer Randy Castillo (who lost his battle with cancer and passed away in 2002), and longtime bassist Bob Daisley. Daisley was replaced by Mike Inez, (who's currently in Alice in Chains). Bob Daisley plays on this album, but Mike Inez does not. (Inez WAS credited on this album, even though he didn't play on it, at all.) 'No More Tears' sold around FIVE MILLION copies worldwide, and FOUR MILLION of those were sold right here in the US!
(RIP Randy Castillo. You were an awesome drummer who played with some of rock's biggest names: Ozzy, Lita Ford, Motley Crue, and others. Your drumming was amazing, and you are missed!)
The title track of 'No More Tears' was released as a 12" picture disc, in the UK, also in '91. It comes with a cool backing card, and features a pic of Ozzy, Randy, Mike Inez, and of course, Zakk! That cool band pic is on the A Side of the card, and song lyrics (and songwriters' credits) is on the flip side.
The vinyl looks great, but with a few light surface marks on it, mainly on the B side. I can't vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records. The marks are really light, and I see no scratches, gouges or scuffs. Overall, looking great! The close-up of Ozzy on the A side is taken from the "No More Tears" 7" picture sleeve single. The B side is another pic of a young (er) Ozzy, with song titles and credits. Two tracks are on the B side, and one previously released (at that time), called "Party With the Animals".
Ozzy is calling it quits, after FIFTY FIVE years in the rock and roll business, as he's ready to just chill and relax. No more recording albums, and no more tours. Maybe we'll hear a song or two in the future, but right now he needs to finally take care of himself. Ozzy was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame again, as he did it with Black Sabbath several years back, and then recently with his own solo career. (Not many artists have made it in twice!) Though it's heartbreaking to hear that Ozzy is retiring, we understand why. And I, personally, support that decision. We'll miss you live on that stage, with a fire hose in your hand, going crazy, and singing your heart out...
