This record was even obscure at the time of it's release in 1961 as it was immediately banned from the radio. It featured a very talented young guitar player, songwriter, and guitar player- Derry Weaver. Vee Jay records actually picked up the wrong material and recorded it by mistake- even spelling the artist's name in error. This was Vee Jay's first white artist recording. Derry Weaver was everywhere in Hollywood in the late 50's and early sixties recording music with Eddie Cochran, Gary Paxton, Sandy Nelson, Bruce Johnson, Larry Taylor, Elliot Ingbar (guitarist for Captain Beefheart & Frank Zappa), and too many others to mention playing anything from early Surf music to Rockabilly. He was one of the Hollywood Argyles (the stage version of the group). But recording mistake or not, these are back-to-back gems for the serious collector A little bit of confusion may be cleared up and a lot more history of this artist can be found on this webpage
