Oliver Klaus/self-titled/Capt. Moze Records M-8841 (1970). This is a very rare, privately pressed LP (reportedly 700 made) psychedelic rock band from Waterloo, Canada. This is NOT a reissue, this is an original. The band included brothers Maurice and Bryan Singfield with Jerry Cushen on bass. The "A" side is studio tracks, the "B" side is recorded live at Waterloo Arena (a club) with 280 people in attendance. Wonderful garage-psychedelic flavor with live covers of Season of the Witch, and a Deep Purple inspired version of Kentucky Woman. This is a super rare original of what has gone on to become a legendary album, worldwide. This album is purported to be Canada's first independently released album of the garage-psychedelic era.
G+/VG+, record, then jacket. Record has some serious wear and scratches that cause ticks. The studio side is way cleaner than the live side, and the studio side actually plays VG-. The live side times in at nearly 25 minutes, and to get that much material on one side of the album, the grooves are scrunched tightly together, so the live side doesn't play as loud. The scratches on side two are more pronounced because the record plays lighter. I have provided two more audio samples, the lead in to side 2 to give you an idea of the general sound quality, and a third sample from the worst area of the album. Please keep in mind that it doesn't get worse than this third sample, and there are only 3 sections of side two of about equal duration of this sample that tick this much. I have play-graded this album all the way through, and on my Technics 1200 it tracks throughout with a skip. (LISTEN!). Labels are very clean, both shown. Jacket is bright and clean-with only marginal discoloration at the edges. All seams and spine are fully intact. The spine has no text. Side 1 matrix in the trail off wax reads: M 8841 HKP M, Side 2 matrix in the trail off wax reads MS 8842 GH M. This is one of only 700 made.
