Wewantsounds is pleased to announce the reissue of Omar Khorshid's cult instrumental album With Love released in 1978 on the Voix du Liban label. The album highlights Khorshid's electric guitar twang over Arabic melodies and modern arrangements including the sound of early synthesizers. This series of reissues of Arabic music is supervised by Mario Choueiry of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. The album was recently remastered and re-released with its original cover art. Omar Khorshid is one of the greatest guitarists in the Arab world and has accompanied the biggest Stars such as Oum Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafez and Farid El Atrache. The musician was born in Cairo in 1945. After studying music from a young age, he joined the Egyptian pop group Les Petits Chats in 1966 and played with them for several years until the great Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez passed by and saw them in concert . Seeing Khorshid, he decides to immediately recruit him for his own group. Then begins the rise of the guitarist who begins to play for the Egyptian diva Oum Khalthoum and several other Egyptian Stars . Following political unrest in Egypt in the early 1970s, Khorshid decided to move to Lebanon in 1973 and began recording under his own name for several Beirut labels. In 1977, he was invited by Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat to perform at the White House for the celebration of the Camp David peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. In 1978, Khorshid moved abroad again - this time to Syria - for about a year before returning to Egypt, to concentrate on his concerts and his budding film career. Unfortunately, Khorshid's rise to fame was cut short and he tragically died in a motorcycle accident in May 1981 at just 36 years old. The album With Love, recorded during his Lebanese period, was released on the Voice of Lebanon label in 1978. It testifies to the talent of Omar Khorshid and the unique sound of his guitar, accompanied by modern arrangements, making him one of the true innovators of Arab music. Featuring versions of classics such as Mohamed Abdel Wahab's "Ahwak", Farid El-Atrache's "Hebbina Hebbina" and the Rahbani brothers' "Rahbaniyat", the album is a shining example of a successful fusion of tradition and modernity. With Love is now highly sought after by DJs and collectors of Arab music.
